Statutory Health Insurance vs Private Health Insurance

In Germany, the majority of people are covered by statutory health insurance. The insurance premium to the statutory health insurance depends on the income and amounts to approx. 15% of the income. But not only the private health insurances have a lot of different insurance benefits and services. Also the statutory health insurances have great differences - not only due to the high amount of "insurance companies" offering statutory health insurances of which there are 110 in Germany (2018).

Private supplementary health insurance

In addition to the health insurance, there is the so-called private supplementary health insurance. A private supplementary health insurance is the ideal supplement to the statutory health insurance. It is cheap and offers valuable services that are not covered by statutory health insurance, e.g. expensive dental procedures.
